Artichoke hearts au gratin with tomato

4 artichoke hearts

500 g of tomato

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 pinch of basil powder or 4 fresh leaves

2 cloves of garlic

1 pinch of thyme

100 g grated cheese

4 knobs of butter

Cooking time: 30 min
Step 1
In a saucepan, cook the artichoke bottoms in salted water with lemon juice for about 20 to 30 minutes, until they are very tender.
Step 2
On the other hand, peel, seed and crush the tomatoes. Then place them in hot oil with basil, thyme, chopped garlic, salt and pepper in a frying pan.
Step 3
Reduce the tomato sauce for 20 minutes, more if the tomatoes are very juicy.
Step 4
Preheat the oven grill to 180°C (thermostat 6).
Step 5
Garnish the artichoke bottoms with this sauce, sprinkle with grated cheese and place a dab of butter on each. Bake and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes while watching.
