Giant beef and dried fruit skewers coated with bacon, tomato sauce

500 g beef meat (steak)
16 slices of salted or smoked bacon
8 soft dried figs
8 dried prunes
1 onion
For the sauce:
5 tomatoes
2 teaspoons of tomato puree
2 teaspoons horseradish (jar)
2 pieces of cane sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon of Provence herbs
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon of thyme
1 bay leaf
3 sprigs fresh basil
1 tablespoon olive oil

Step 1
Wrap the prunes and figs in the bacon.
Step 2
Cut the meat into pieces (± 4 cm) and prick them on the spit, alternating with the plums and figs in the bacon. Sprinkle with herbes de Provence and 1 teaspoon paprika.
Step 3
Cut the tomatoes into cubes.
Step 4
Slice the onion into small pieces.
Step 5
Finely chop the basil.
Step 6

Sauté the onion in 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, soy sauce, cane sugar cubes, paprika, horseradish, bay leaf, thyme and 2 tablespoons of water.
Step 8
Cover and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.
Step 9
Finish by adding the basil, salt and pepper.
Step 10
Cook the skewers 2 min. on each side on a hot barbecue, or longer if you like medium cooked meat.
Step 11
Serve the skewers and hot tomato sauce with a green salad and a stuffed potato. You can garnish the salad with a few crushed nuts.
