400 g Penne or Farfalle pasta

1 Cavaillon melon

200 g raw ham (Serrano type)

1 bunch of fresh basil

Olive oil

Balsamic vinegar

Coarse salt

Pepper (preferably from the mill)

Cooking time: 10 min
Step 1
Put the pasta to cook according to the instructions in the package, with coarse salt (it is better al dente, but make according to everyone's taste).
Step 2
While the pasta is cooking, cut the melon into small cubes (or, if you have the special utensil, into small balls, it's even better).
Step 3
When the pasta is cooked, rinse it in cold water, drain it and put it in a bowl.
Step 4
Add the diced melon balls, ham cut into strips, chopped fresh basil and olive oil (about 5 tablespoons, more or less according to taste and if the pasta has swollen) and balsamic vinegar (one tablespoon or two, no more, otherwise it hides the flavours). Add a few mill revolutions.
Step 5
Serve chilled.
Author's note
A friend made me this pasta salad, I've been addicted ever since. It can be eaten as a single dish in the evening, or as an accompaniment to a barbecue.
