Number of persons

1 fillet of salted or smoked herring (not too strong)

1 potato

1 carrot

1 white onion

2 beets

1 jar of low-fat mayonnaise (the blandest you'll find)

Total Time: 30 min
Preparation: 30 min
Make this recipe in the evening for the next day.
If you can find salted herring it's better.
Cook the vegetables in water and remove the skin. Set aside.
Remove the skin from the herring if necessary and cut the fillet into very small squares.
Chop the onion finely.
Take a shallow plate to serve as a dish for the herring fur.
In the bottom of the plate, scatter the small pieces of herring.
Then scatter half of the chopped onion on top without mixing. Grate the cooked potato on top, spread it out and flatten it slightly. Grate the carrot and do the same.
Put the other half of the onion on top (if you have taken a small onion, don't bother).
Grate the beetroot, divide and flatten. You get a kind of smooth, rounded cake.
Finally, spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise on top of the beetroot to cover everything, but don't put too much mayonnaise on it either!
It's finished, put the plate in the fridge and leave at least one night, the mayonnaise will soak the beetroot and will become pink! Cut out slices like a cake.
