Cooking time: 45 min
Weigh the eggs, and then take the same weight in butter, sugar and flour.
Beat the egg yolks with the sugar and pour in the melted butter, then the flour in small quantities and finally the whites of the beaten eggs.
Add a pinch of salt.
Pour into a buttered cake tin and bake for 45 minutes at 160°C (gas mark 5-6); keep a close eye on the baking.
Flavour the dough with vanilla extract or lemon zest.
