110 g unsalted butter
110 g golden syrup (or maple syrup, the taste of the pie will then be a little more pronounced)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
225 g brown sugar
3 eggs
1 shortcrust pastry
300 g pecan nuts
Preparation
Total Time: 45 min

Cooking time: 25 min
Preheat the oven to 180°C (thermostat 6).
Cut the butter into small pieces in a saucepan.
Add the golden syrup (or maple syrup), vanilla and sugar. Melt over low heat. Leave to cool for 10 minutes.
Beat the eggs into an omelette and add them to the previous mixture.
Mix well with a whisk (not electric).
Set aside 1 handful of pecans for decoration.
Arrange the others on the pie dough.
Gently pour the mixture over the pecans, taking care not to move them.
Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes.
Keep a close eye on the pecans as it may go faster depending on the oven, or it may take 10 more minutes...
The dough should be golden brown and the top of the tart should not be too dry.
Take the tart out of the oven and arrange the reserved pecans nicely.
Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
My children prefer it with a tablespoon of plain, unsweetened Greek yoghurt, because the pie is already sweet!
