Prepare a large dish (like a large baking dish) with the butter so that the preparation does not stick to the baking.
Spread your prunes at the bottom of the dish.
Preheat the oven to 180°C (gas mark 6).
Pour the litre of whole milk and the 100 g of butter into a saucepan.
Allow to cool. Caution, do not bring the milk to the boil! It must be hot but not boiling!
In a salad bowl, mix the flour and sugar, vanilla sugar with a wooden spatula. Do not use an electric whisk, the cake swells less in this case.
Add the eggs. You get a smooth and slightly sticky mixture: it clings to the spatula.
Mix with the wooden spatula vigorously for 10 minutes.
Gradually add the warm milk and butter while continuing to stir . You get a liquid, creamy mixture.
Arrange this paste delicately over the prunes.
Cook for 1 hour at 180°C.
Halfway through cooking, protect the far with a sheet of aluminium foil so that it does not brown too much.
Check with a knife blade: it should come out clean.
Serve once the far has cooled down... It's even better the day after cooking!
