6 apples

125 g semi-salted butter

30 cl of liquid caramel bought or homemade

50 g sugar
For the dough:

300 g flour

150 g soft butter

120 g sugar

2 eggs

1 pinch of salt

Preheat your oven to 200°C (thermostat 7).
Prepare the dough by first melting the butter. Then pour the sugar into a bowl and mix with the melted butter. Add the eggs and flour so that the dough has a shortbread appearance but does not crumble.
Leave to rest for 1 hour at room temperature.
In the meantime, wash and peel the apples and cut them into large pieces.
Butter a deep-bottomed mould.
Add a good layer of liquid caramel, sprinkle with sugar and pour in 20 g of butter.
Arrange a layer of apples cut into large pieces. Melt about 50 g of salted butter and pour it over the apples with the sugar and caramel.
Repeat this process alternately in several layers.
Bake at 180°C (gas mark 6) for 25 minutes. As soon as your apples are brown, remove them from the oven.
In the meantime, sprinkle flour on a wooden board and roll out the dough.
Place the dough on top of the apples, trying not to break it.
Bake for 25 minutes at 180°C (gas mark 6).
When it comes out of the oven, turn the tin over in a large dish and serve your tarte tatin with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
