- 1½ lb steak sirloin, flank, or chuck, sliced ¾-inch thick
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion thinly sliced
- 4 garlic cloves minced
- 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 Tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- ¼ cup fresh basil torn
